Funny how when we hear the phrase wearable technology hearing aids never come to mind. Fact is hearing aids have been around since the 1950s. So has the stigma which shouldn’t be taken lightly. It is a very real emotional barrier that users face when confronted with the reality of hearing loss.

Shaping New Categories

This was our attempt at defining a product form factor for a new category of hearing assistance. The bluetooth headset-amplifier. The idea is to add hearing amplification to a bluetooth headset. This allows the user to experience the benefits of current hearing technology in a less threatening form.

Once a user has experienced what they have been missing, then maybe they will feel more comfortable about taking the leap to a hearing aid.
